Kinkeliba ice tea

 

KINKELIBA ICED TΞΛ


DIFFICULTY: EASY - PREPARATION: 10 MINUTES COOKING: 4 MINUTES

INGREDIENTS FOR 4 PEOPLE

  • 2 limes
  • 3/4 oz (20 g) dried kinkeliba
  • 1½ cup (100 g) light brown
  • sugar
  • 3 cardamom pods
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • Ice cubes

PREPARATION

Wash, zest, and juice the limes.

Bring 4 cups (1 liter) water to a boil in a pot, then add the lime zest, lime juice, and brown sugar.

Remove the pot from the heat, add the kinkeliba leaves, and infuse for 4 minutes. Strain, then add the cardamom pods and cinnamon stick and leave to cool.

Strain the cooled tea into glasses and serve with ice.

This refreshing iced tea is a great thirst-quencher. Kinkeliba leaves are used in traditional African medicine and are consumed to treat constipation and gallstones, and their anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties are used to soothe gastroenteritis. This tea will keep in the fridge for a week
